Equal Opportunities
Equal Opportunities
As a public employer, the DFK Paris enacts the principles of the Federal Equality Act (Bundesgleichstellungsgesetz, BGleiG) and the General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz, AGG). Moreover, through targeted measures, the institute proactively fosters equality and diversity in everyday working life as well as the prevention of discrimination:
- Equal opportunity and equal treatment are ensured throughout recruitment procedures – from the job announcement and review of applications to the interview process and the informing of candidates. All applicants and colleagues are treated equally regardless of national, ethnic, or social origin, age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or worldview, or disability. Where candidates are equally qualified, applicants with severe disabilities are given preference in the selection process.
- Employees are given support in their professional development. The compatibility of work and family life is promoted through, among other measures, flexible working hours and arrangements that enable staff to respond (in the short or long term) to particular personal circumstances such as childcare, illness, or the care of dependent relatives. The DFK Paris also promotes equal participation by enabling employees and fellows to apply for financial support to cover any childcare or caregiving costs incurred in connection with business travel, professional development, or training. This provision also applies to guests invited to institute-organized events.
- Through training and regular internal exchange, the DFK Paris team maintains an awareness of issues around the abuse of power, sexual harassment, discrimination, and violence in the workplace.
The DFK Paris values diversity among its staff and recognizes the particular challenges that working at an international research institution abroad can pose for private life, family, and partnerships. Colleagues are supported in their various ways of life.
